Excuse my recent post that I thought may be Relay related. But after talking to a service guy he thinks that the relay sounds fine. So I'll take another stab and post another two variables. Newer post follows at end...
Re-Post
My S70 went weird the other day. Very hot humid weather. (Wife driving and reports that...) Started fine. Starts to drive and all power items fail (although engines still runs and drives) power windows, radio, wipers, etc. Continues to drive it home and I look at it, Now all power items work except now no power to start the car. No cranking at all. 6 month old battery. Lights etc seem to be bright so...
When I turn to ignition I hear the fuel pump come on and "feel" the slight sound of the ignition engaging (slight couple of clicks) and the relay is another more obvious click, Also I get the slight fade of the idiot lights when I turn on the ignition.
The car has always started immediately until this event happened.
NEW POST:
There are two ther variables.
#1 The car has a totally ridiculous Lo-Jack alarm in it. Because of the lame activation sequence I have disabled it (it activates to sound two minutes after the car is turned off. Any door opening will set it off EVEN if the door's NOT locked). But when the battery is disconnected and reconnected it defaults to active. I think that I have successfully de-activateed it... but it is an element that may have some ignition-kill element to it. I DOUBT that this is the problem.
#2 For a few months now the steering post-located ignition key slot will often rotate when I try to start the car. i.e. put the key in and turn and the key spins around never hitting a point where it's settled and can be in a position to begin ACC or ignition. This will occassionally happen. But when it decides to stop doing this the cylindar always returns to the original position and lines up correctly on the post. Everything works fine. It is NOT spinning now and all three key postions feel correct and seem to iniate what they are supposed to... even the ignition position. I don't think that this is the problem either.

That would be good news. The battery's new (6 months) and always fired up immediately and all the power seems there... but you never know. I'll try to jump it. Also... by dirty terminals... do you mean on the starter?
