1988 740 GL won't start
I have a 1988 740 GL that won't start. It starts with starting fluid, but won't continue to run, so I know the ignition system is good. I've bypassed the M.A.P. sensor, it still won't start. The fuel filter (under the driver is new), as is the pump. The pump is wired correctly, so it pumps in the right direction. Fuel gets to the pump freely. Fuel gets to the fuel rail, but I don't have a gauge to tell me what the pressure is, but there is pressure at the manifold. I tried another control module, or whatever that thing by the passenger's feet is called, and still no start. I find it kind of hard to believe all 4 injectors went out at once. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

You say that you replaced the main fuel pump and filter under the car. What about your in-tank fuel pump and filter sock in the gas tank? Have they been replaced, too, or still the originals? A bad filter sock in the tank will destroy a new main fuel pump very quickly.
Please do a keyword search on my screen name "kmaniac" and view my previous posts on this subject. If the car still refuses to start, try the rock trick on the main fuel pump.
