Change out all of the fluids, the timing belt and put in a set of spark plugs.
The lubricants are the lifeblood of any car. They are usually neglected as Volvo and other manufacturers suggest that some fluids are good for life. They are not.
These cars are also very particular that the timing belt is changed at or before its interval.
Include
Transmission fluid flush, engine oil, Coolant, power steering fluid , Bevel gear if AWD, Haldex or center coupler if AWD and Rear Differential if AWD
Please spend the extra $10 and use Volvo antifreeze and distilled or demineralized water. You should also pay a little more and replace the fluids with Quality synthetics. If you do this all yourself you will save a bunch of money
Then enjoy. I would suggest a fuel filter and injector cleaning for cars with over 80K as well

^^^^^^^Do that. All of it. Also, check your air filter and micro filter. Micros can get pretty nasty after a good 30k. Your car will love you if you do all this service.

Hello, Could you please post the mileage of your new-to-you car. The list of things to do should also include an inspection of the axle boots and brakes. CAUTION: If you're new to car maintenance or want to use a coupon at some service center for a transmission flush PLEASE BE AWARE of the fact that your car needs SPECIAL TRANSMISSION FLUID. Do a search on this topic as negligence will COST YOU DEARLY. Kira
