850 N/A Cams in 850 T-5 Why?

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

850 N/A Cams in 850 T-5 Why?

Why is fitting N/A cams in a T-5 a good idea for a mod? do the cams lift longer ?

I believe the n/a cams are slightly higher lift.
no idea about duration or timing.

I agree upto now I've done some research which does show the N/A cams will have a better duration than the T-5 Cams why who knows seems a bit of a compromise to me

If anyone can add then please do as I'm in the modding mood so far I'm planning on putting a N/A Throttle Body on as its 55mm as stock I believe the T-5 is 53mm so a 2mm gain along with adjusting the waste gate as my T-5 isn't boosting to anywhere near 11psi

How much more power can you get from different cams? I've been thinking about replacing the cams in my 97 850 GLT and was curious as to how much they do for the power.

around 5-15bhp maybe more as the lift and duration changes allowing more fuel/air mix in and more gas out

ive looked at doing this swap also the greater valve lift sounds great. But if the duration allows for for overlap the boost could just be pushed out the exhaust during the overlap period ive been trying to find some numbers on actual lift and duration. as yet i can not find much

Either Kent Cams or Piper Cams in the UK might give you the numbers you are looking for, if I find them I will post. I don't think the boost overlap will happen
