Changed Throttle body disc...no difference

Just did a "Seafoam" treatment but used GM T.E.C. Then plugs, cap and rotor. Then I installed the '92 960 TB disc in the throttle body. I don't notice any real difference. Maybe a little just off idle, but given the way everyone was talking like this was some secret HP booster I was a little disappointed. I'll see how it goes on this tank of gas.
Anyone else do this mod and have the same pedestrian results?

Your car may not have noticed yet either.

If you don't have to get it inspected any time soon, reset the engine adaptives (pull the battery cable off and drain the charge, then reconnect it). Let the engine re-learn what to expect at partial throttle, and it will compensate the fuel-air mixture accordingly.

Have you defeated the air-box thermostat yet? That is a huge power / mileage killer.

I did both at the same time and received a very pleasant (perceived albeit) improvement in throttle response.

Did the air box stat last year. I unplugged the battery this morning and we'll see how she responds after that. I was expecting that wedge to be bigger than it was. All in all that was a very easy job to do.

I have 96 GLT and was thinking of doing TB disc change myself, wanted to know how long it took and how much did it
cost for 960 TB disc?

Does this air-box thermostat really add power/better mileage and how is that change? Is this mod on this site?
I was thinking about modifying the intake myself but if the air-box thermostat is where the extra power is at I would
appreciate any tips you can offer, thanks.

This thread is a bit of a downer for me as I was really looking forward to doing this mod in the coming months, once classes let out. Let us know what happens when you hook the battery back up.

OKay kids...hooked up the battery and once the computer had relearned the new fuel air parameters...wow! You won't be frying any tires but merging into traffic is a whole new experience! The biggest difference I noticed was about a 350RPM reduction at 70MPH. The new disc makes the biggest difference right at that point and it was huge. Looks like a pickup of 3-4 MPG on the highway but I'll know more when I fill up again. As to the cost, now keep in mind I play hockey with Jamie at Waltrip but with the new disc, two new screws, (which I didn't need because mine came out easily...which never happens) and a new TB gasket I spent $22. The airbox stat is a freebie. It only took me an hour and that included scrubbing the throttle body because is was sludgy.

Not familiar with this mod. Is it for NA only or do Turbo's get to play too?
