Can you bypass EGR clogged code?

Hi Volvo Community,
I had a 95 850 n/a. I had to replace the exhaust manifold due to a broken flex pipe. Unfortunately the new manifold came off of a 98 and didn't have a connection for the EGR so mine has been detached and sucking air from the engine bay ever since (3 months). Recently the check engine light came on indicating the EGR is clogged. I am hoping their is a quick fix to get the light off so I can smog the car then deal with the clog afterwords. Anyone know if you can jump wires or something to make the computer think the EGR isn't clogged? I think there is a sensor right where the Stainless Steel line t's into the bottom of the intake. Not sure how that sensor works and whether it can be jumped somehow.

How hard is it to clean out the EGR system? From what I've read its most likely clogged right at the intake manifold and not the piping or valve upstream of that.

any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I'm not so sure you can trick it since it has a temp sensor associated with the EGR valve. The low flow is almost always associated with blockage in hole to the intake manifold but in your case I'm not sure since it is never getting the exhaust gas in the first place.

I think you may be right in that it has been getting clean cool air instead of hot exhaust air. perhaps something got sucked up. I have felt it and it is sucking much less through the unattached pipe end than right after I did the manifold job.
