Well, not including failures from previous owners (Dealer maintained, although I don't have a specific history on what needed to be done)
Upper Engine Mount Bushing (Just replaced)
Glovebox Lock (Replaced)
Blower Motor (PITA SOB replaced)
Blower Motor Resistor (I'm blaming my boyfriend for this....How many times do I have to tell him, the blower motor is pissed off, flicking the speed controls WILL NOT HELP...Apparently, until the resistor blows, that's how many times.)
Odometer Gear (I think curse words were invented while pulling out instrument clusters...)
Right Front Axle (Just replaced)
Tie Rods (Not a complete failure, but figured I should do it with the axle)
Cup Holder (NOT well engineered. Those little black things were not made for holding drinks.)
Rear Knock Sensor (This is the only thing that I KNOW was previously replaced, since I bought an old-style knock sensor, and my buddy went to put it in and went "Hmmmm....No go!" Also not sure if it's a complete failure, as it functions ok when he cleans it off real well....but for how long, is the question.)
Shift Lock Microswitch, or Shift Button (Suspected failure in one of the other, not sure which yet.)
PCV/Flame Trap (I believe his to be clogged somewhere, have to figure out where!)
That seems to be it, so far!

What have you taken from these numbers?
I've concluded the ABS module should be considered a wear item. Volvo's 70k and 140k maintenance schedule should read "Replace ABS module if necessary."
And I shouldn't have added top engine mount bushing... it is a wear item, although I don't know if it's in the schedule.
Also, I'm surprised ETM isn't a higher number. Of 400+ problems, it's only been voted on 4 times. I know this doesn't include the entire ETM year run or Volvo model run, but this span does include two years of the ETM failure range.

Besides the items I checked in the poll, ball joints, steering rack, tie rod ends and front struts. I don't think these should be considered wear items since they last the life of the vehicle on some brands.

Wow, I'm lucky. Only two items on the list (Blower motor & resistor pack, & door strap). Although I have changed it, I can't count the thermostat because to me, that's a normal wear item, takes 10 minutes to change(including getting tools out and putting them away), and costs $5. I've had to replace those on many cars. The one that pissed me off was the door strap. It looked like they put it on with poster putty. Four self-tappers ought to hold it though. Two I've done that were left off the list are the tiny little odometer gear that I had to replace (not expensive, but kind of a pain to do without scratching something), & the black construction paper the used on the roof rails(not hard to fix or expensive, just really really annoying).

god forsaken cheap plastic on the seat belt clips, they break then the belt is really hard to remove from the reciever. i jammed a pocket knife into mine to get the belt out and broke it but it was a quick run to the local salvage yard and $5 later new reciever

In 95% of these repairs, I did them myself.
- Top engine mount bushing: replaced at 50K
- Thermostat: preventive replacement at 60K
- Door check strap or hinge: broke at 80K, replaced
- ABS module: replaced with bba-rema.comn module, LT warranteed
- Timing Belt: preventive replacement at 60K
- Rear main seal: replaced by indy ($720 labor)
- Wheel bearing: Still good at 100K
- AC evaporator: Still good at 100K
- Battery cable: Still good at 100K
- Master driver door switch: broke at 60K
- Camshaft position sensor: Still good at 100K
- Fuel pump or relay: Still good at 100K
- Heater core/ blower / resistor: Still good at 100K
- Sway bar links: all front suspension (Bilstein TC strut, XC90 mount, control arms, endlinks, tierods): replaced at 90K.
- Mass airflow sensor: Broke at 100K, replaced with Bosch.
- Rear Tailgate struts: replaced at 100K.
- Rear Shock/Mount: replaced at 100K.
- Pass front door actuator: replaced at 95K.
- Headlight switch broke twice! On the 2nd failure, I got fed up and glued the broken parts together using plumbing glue (primer and glue used for joining PVC pipe). Ten years later the HL switch is still good!
- Loose tailgate Trim Panel, used all kinds of kit from dealer. Got fed up and apply a bead of clear silicone caulk (similar to caulking your window at home) between the trim's TOP and the rear tailgate glass, let it sit for 12 h or so.
So far so good, no more rattle.

My heater core failed because of a burned out cooling fan. I didn't see the electric cooling fan on the list so here is how mine looked.

Only two things on that list failed on my 2000 V70; thermostat and interior switches. Then my engine blew, and lots more stuff failed. It was so reliable and trouble free that I am surprised to see the votes in this thread.
