Hood flutter

Post by takane2 »

I seem to be having an issue with the right side of the hood having too much play when it is shut. At highway speeds especially in crosswinds the hood seems to rise maybe half an inch on the right side and fall back. I've checked the latches and it seems that the center and left latch are engaged fully but the left side has some play. From watching the right latch carefully when shutting the hood it appears that the hook is lined up and should be engaging the latch. Any ideas on what could be causing this? I will post some pictures later.

The same thing happened to me a few months ago. To get rid of the play you have to move the hood latch down and or glue rubber spacers in place. The hood latches have oval mounting holes that allow the latch vertical adjustment. So, move it all the way down. If isn't enough you will have to glue rubber spacers on the plastic cowling in front of the radiator.
