Steering rack leak....what to stop it up?

Post by Jobo »

I don't have the money right this second to get a complete repair, so I was wondering, to slow the leak (which is already a pretty slow leak) on my steering rack, should I used power steering leak stopper or ATF leak stopper. I ask because in the S70 you use ATF fluid instead of power steering fluid.

Hi,

I also have the same problem with my 850 GLT. Any suggestion on what to use?

BOTH can be used as both functions chemically. they just bloat the rubber sealant gasket in order for it to seal better.

As rubber age they harden up and shrink, the shrinkage makes it leak. the chemical works by entering the rubber and making a bond to the polymers and enlarges it again. both atf and steering sealants will work. they only work on the rubbers

If leakage not due to rubbers then you will have to bite the bullet and overhaul. However should work most of the time.

Hope this answers your question.
