Need help changing rear springs

Post by bocephus »

So I'm trying to change out the stock springs on my '01 T5 with a set of Eibachs; changing the front springs was super easy, but I'm getting kind of stuck with the rear springs. Alldatadiy only lists the procedure for pre-'01 V70s, and I can't get VADIS up and running on my computer (initially installed a virus-laden version of VADIS, which has now bricked my XP laptop). The only walk-through I've been able to find online is this one, which is also for pre-'01 V70's: http://turbobil.com/SMF/index.php/topic,13.0.html

After poking around under there for a while, it looks like I'll probably have to drop the lower control arm, and maybe the trailing arm, in order to get the spring out. I haven't done that much work on the rear suspension, though, and I'm hesitant to go tearing in there, loosening everything up, without knowing exactly what I should be doing. Any tips/walk-throughs from those who've done this?
