Okay kids...another trip from Nashville to Philly. (I am promoting a new book in Philly so I have to drive this quite a lot)
Got 33MPG highway on the second leg this morning. This is easily 4 miles over my previous best BUT...I took 29North instead of 81 and my average speed was 60-65 instead of 70-75. The big difference is keeping RPM's under 2600ish. Seems like thats the magical threshold where real MPG savings happens. Anyone else find this to be true. Otherwise I am very pleased with the results of the TB disc swap

I just ordered the throttle body plate myself and am looking very foward to installing into throttle body . I'm looking for
better throttle response myself but better mpg wouldn't hurt either. Glad to see positive results after you reloaded your
ECU.

Cool
I've only maintained that kinda mileage once. Stupid turbo!
Remember, though, don't run the engine below 2500 all the time, especially accelerating around town. The valves need to spin in place, and they do that above 3000. Show it a good time every now and then

After opening the cold/hot air intake flap on the stock airbox all the way to cold and completely fixing it into place, and the TB mod, I am getting around 4-6 mpg, rose to 30mpg.
BUT MAN!!!! 0-60 is ALOT quicker! it is particularly noticed when going up an on ramp.
what is the max throttle position we can get? with a 854 N/A GLT.
I was running diagnostics on it the whole way home tonight, and maxed around 85% throttle.
although I couldnt seem to get it over 5k rpm, but am reaching same speeds, 120mph,
at just a we bit faster rate, with lower rpm.

Lower speeds generally mean greater MPG as you have less parasite drag on the car. 60 seems to be a pretty good sweet spot. 33 MPG is good, best I've seen in my wagon is 30 doing 60-65.

I've never played around with my scanner while driving, BUT get a friend to mash the gas for you while you look around under the hood. Does it look like the catch that swings open the throttle body is put in the same position as when you hold it fully open with your hand?
Mash...hmm, my southern grammar is coming back.

I broke my throttle cable at the boot on the firewall and the plastic screw on the bracket doing the PCV thing to my car, and have yet to get a new one. It's rather annoying that it doesn't kick down 2 gears in E mode anymore, so I suspect it isn't opening fully, or the kick-down sensor at the firewall no longer gets enough tension to activate. I wasn't too happy to find this out the first time, when I tried to dart around a bunch of slow-moving trucks on the highway and only dropped 1 gear.

am I supposed to be looking for a broken piece?
im assuming your talking about the rod piece attacking the throttle body to the throttle?
it may just be because its 1am here, but im not getting it right now. lol

yeah...the thing I pointed to with the arrow. Hold that fully open with your finger, and then compare it to having someone hold the gas pedal to the floor from inside the car. If it doesn't open as much that way, start turning the plastic screw thing on the throttle cable bracket to tighten it up.
Sorry, I tend to launch into long stories that really have nothing to do with anything at hand, but that's what I'm usually thinking at the moment. That, anyway, is the reason my cable is broken, and I'd be willing to bet I don't show 100% open throttle either.
DW isn't good about responding to emails; give them a call tomorrow if you can.
