Changed Throttle body disc...no difference

Hi, I have a 98 V70 non-turbo, will a 960 throttle plate fit in my
throttle body, and does my car have the granny-lip on the throttle plate?

Also: "Make sure you have your radio code before disconnecting the battery."

How do you get it and why is it needed?

The car passes w/flying colors right now & I would think if you gain better fuel efficiency this would be a plus. Guess it would depend how rich she runs @ idle.
The folks at most of the "Test only" stations (Dyno) are not ever going to know a different throttle plate was installed but they can read the bottom line of the computer printout : "FAIL"

Would your State Inspectors actually pick up on this?

I am not sure if it will work on yours, im sure if you pull up specs on your throttle plate, then the 850/960 plate if the diameter is the same, then it should fit.

also, volvo should have your radio code, if it has always been in your car, call up volvo and request it, they may want you to bring it in to verify you did not steal it... idk why, but what ever.
your going to need the serial number off of it, I usually talk them into giving me the radio code over the phone.
once you get it, write it down somewhere and dont loose it.

doubtful, while yes you get a better throttle response and as I just experienced a 1-2second quicker 0-60, its not THAT noticeable.

I also doubt it would effect your emissions. your pulling more air into the engine.

Ya know Rob as I think about it it doesn't matter I'm going to do it anyway. SO simple & it HAS to be better for the engine. If it becomes a problem (These damn dyno stations here in our glorious State are based on BS & politics not science) I'll change it back for another test ... then change it again! LOL ... an hour or so every two years is not so bad & just think hw clean my throttle body will stay! Hahaha

... try about 20 minutes... lol, thats if your unbolting it, and unscrewing the plate then sliding it out.

if your just unbolting then bolting a new one on... id say... 10? lol.

if your doing what your doing, I would suggest getting the entire 960 throttle body, with plate. so you can bolt, un bolt.

I can't see why it would impact your emissions testing AT ALL. That's done at idle, and the airflow isn't changed at idle.

Volvo's are picky about the smallest change in their emissions readings, so I'm sure the car would be angry long before it was out of spec for the emissions tests. Then again, it is California

And yes, it will work on your 98 V70 - the engine is exactly the same as the 850.

If the dealer is giving you a hard time about the radio code, hang up and call another one. If they won't either, call these people:

It should be based on your VIN, but if the radio unit has been changed, you'll need the serial off the top of your radio as well.

WHOA! LOL ... (Sorry "Whoa"!) SO, you are telling me the 960 throttle body will swap out to the 850? THAT would be cool! My throttle body would always be clean enough to strain FOOD! hahaha ... & I'd be looking at a half hour (Damn Rob, you have to sip the cerveza ot it gets warm! Ya know?)
I think I'll just buy the throttle plate for now because I can't believe this will affect emmissions. If I lose I lose & frankly, i still win!

yeah sorry should have been clearer on that, get an 850 throttle body from the junk yard for like waht, 10$ and just swap the plates while your there if you can find one. then you can just bolt, un bolt, when ever you want.
