turbo pressure test / performance questions

Post by alfonzobonzo »

Hi Guys,

Recently bought a 2001 xc70 2.4 t & am getting to grips with it fairly well.

I used to have a t4 v40 estate, so knew immediately what to do when the coolant indicator went wappy on the 2nd day of ownership.

question now is, is there a quick way to see if the turbo is spooling up correctly.

can you hear the turbo spool up on these cars like i could on the T4? i'm guessing not as its a light turbo and i hear nothing.

what's the quickest way of testing for a leak in the turbo system.

I just get the feeling that all is not quite right on the power front. when it first starts up the is considerably less pull than when the engine is warm, is that normal

when its hot, its ok but not great, ie, i think very hard about trying to overtake anyone, & i 'mean' anyone.

oh, and fuel economy hovers at about 25.5mpg (95ron) (driving very very carefully). planting the foot shows @ 9mpg on the instantaneous.

recently replaced plugs / air-filter both were pretty bad shape. cleaned MAF, looked ok tho, but not much better.

no error codes from odbII port

any pointers? or is this just normal
