srs code and im lost.
Hi, I have a 2002 volvo v70 with a srs lamp on. scan test and the code 034 is log in.this code state that the left side air bag circuit have too high of a resistance.I checked the harness and the connectors between the module and the side air bag connector. circuit checked out ok. the customer told us to replace the side air bag so we did. clear the code after this operation but the code 034 still come on. any ideas on what to check next? Thanks in advance for any info.
You might pull the b post trim and check the front seat belts. There will be a metal type cable running to the ignitor (where the wire hooks in) check to see if it is taut and straight. If the ignitor has fired, the metal cable will have a little slack in it, even if the seatbelt hasn't locked up the SRS code will show. I have seen several of these cars that have taken very light bumps to the front, not enough to deploy any airbags or lock the seatbelt up, but yet essentially trash the seatbelt and throw the SRS code. Also I have seen a few cars where a seatbelt was bad but with a generic scanner it will show the wrong code. For example I had an S60 where the left front seatbelt was bad but I received the code for the right roof bag. Seatbelts may have nothing to do with it, but it would be an easy and cheap place to check.
Hi Otis, I just returned from the vehicle. I took a look at the driver's seat belt ignitor assembly and see if the ignitor had fired and the slack in the actuator cable. The cable was still loose, so it looked like the srs trouble is not in this area. Thank you anyway for your info.
