Taken to the cleaners

Post by brobinson »

Hi,
Just needed to vent.I'm having all kinds of issues with my 96/960.I took it to the dealer to fix a fuel rail because it was leaking gas and they fix the problem, fine.Since it was there I thought it could use some new plugs,so I asked them to take care of that too.Mind you I didn't have any check engine lights or service soon when I took it in.They come back to me and tell me I need 6 coils because they're cracking. Now my baby is missing and sputtering. That was maybe two weeks and two days a go.Now my engine is smoking (wasn't doing that before),so I took it back thinking they would do the right thing and tighten what ever they left loose. They came back and hit me with flame trap clogged.Fine.Had them fix that too.Came home, car still smoking and I can see on my vaulve cover the bolt that didn't get tighten.Going back tommorow.

seriously I dont think I would go back to them...

btw... they did away with the piece on the flametrap that gets clogged...
theres no need for it tbh.

if you have any friends who are mechanics, see if they can look it over, then have volvo look it over, and then you will see if they are lying.

this is why I do all my own work, or avoid volvo when getting repairs done for me.

It sounds to me like this dealer is playing you for a sucker, as more stuff is broken and the car runs poorer each time it is returned to you. As I have no fear about getting in peoples faces when I am being taken advantage of, I would call the dealer general manager to ask if this can be resolved without you being required to go to small claims court and flame them at the BBB. Also, letter to VOCNA, etc.

But I seriously doubt I would ever use them again unless they fixed everything they broke, kissed me on both cheeks and licked the crack inbetween.

Good luck.

WOOT!! almost got taken to cleaners today for brakes...

went to get all brake pads replaced and they say I need a tie rod...

funny things are when they tell me this..
see how the wheel wiggles, it means your tie rods busted. (BULL SHIZ!!) lol it moved less then a half inch, which if anythign means my bushing on control arm is bad.
them :you need to replace the tie rod,
me: well which one inner or outer
them: wait you have two?
them: ill go get your a price on the one....
me: uhh ok... I have two though...
them: 275 just for parts. well throw the labor in when we do the brakes and everything over there.

me: call volvo... $50 for outter , 80 for inner....
me: put my wheels back on, ill do it myself.

This is why its good to know your car better then the mechanics. LOL
