I can't figure out if my V70 is a turbo or not!

It's a 1998 V70 wagon. On the back, it says
V70
AWD

It has the small hose coming out of the front of the airbox. It also has a throttle disc with NO lip on it, that's right, a perfectly flat throttle disc, I saw it myself while I was in the process of doing the ol' throttle plate/disc swap from a 960.

So am I crazy or what?

Just because it says AWD doesn't mean it has to be a Turbo, I did think most were LPT 2.5, the fool proof way of checking is look at the exhaust manifold if you can see a turbocharger or anything large and round on it then it's a turbo model, the instrument panel should have a Turbo gauge too. If it is a turbocharged engine and you've swapped the throttle plate from a 960 then you will have to port the inlet manifold or you supposedly stand a chance of the throttle locking on boost.

If your engine has this BIG BLACK PIPE over the engine it has a turbo.
No pipe, no turbo

Actually it does. No turbo, no AWD. There are no non turbo AWD's

As the previous poster says the black pipe part of the intercooler says it has a turbo. Maybe in the USA AWDs are all turbo seen a few in Europe that haven't been but what is in a badge?

It's a low-pressure turbo, 2.4L 190 hp engine.
