Yes, but you will need that ECU from that engine, or get yours reflashed. With a reflashed ECU, you can actually use your big turbo on that engine, and get a nice performance gain. But it'll cost you a couple hundred, depending on where you get it done

The 2 motors have different power bands and other characteristics. It won't just run with the T5 ECU, it will be confused. So, you could either swap both the engine, turbo, and ECU, or have your ECU reflashed for a 2.4 turbo with the big turbo on it.
I'm not sure who does it - IPD seems to be the best that I'm aware of, but I don't know if they adapt their programs to different engine/turbo configurations; that might be something you'd want to head on over to Volvospeed and ask for opinions on.

First, thanks for the info. One last question... Will any ECU from a B5244t work? I have a 2001 V70T5M as the host vehicle. What year ECU should I be looking for, should it be from a manual vehicle or does it matter, and will this ECU just plug into my car and work without some dealer SW input? Ok this was more than one last question but I am trying see what is the best route to take. Thanks again.

I checked VADIS for engine transmission options and the M56 does not show compatibility with the 244t3 engine. Thats not to say it is not possible to make it work. The ECU is critical to proper engine operation.
