Thats wright wen in doubt change it, if you dont have maintenance records, this should be the first thing you should do.

I would also like to do it on another 850 but in actuality after acomplishing this on your 850 you'll be able to perform it on any other car its all the same technology just the location and set ups are different.

I thought of the following solution that would have made access to the Torx bolt SO much easier.

If you drill a one inch hole through the wheel well body at the level of the torx bolt you can fit an extension in to
allow for easy removal and easy installation with correct torque. Then you could simply plug the hole and lower
the wheel well liner. Seems like such a small thing to make servicing so much easier.

There you go! I had a Ford Mustang back in the days of yore. This is the first one they put a 428 CI in. engine in. The ONLY way to get at the rear spark plug (Can't remember what number but it was on the Passenger side) was to lift or drop the engine! Crazy!

I did the same thing you are talking about with a cutting torch. Cut an access in the wheel well, cut a cover plate, installed a hinge & twist lock closure, ... Done! Why the factory didn't do this only tells me they were looking to make their Steelerships more money.

Thank you for the reminder! I'm actually going to do this on my 850 & the hole is so small I bet I can find a rubber plug to cover it.

Your Photos are great! Believe it or not I never could figure where the actual timing marks were. (Never looked at a manual & have not had to do this proceedure yet but will soon)) There are a bunch of photos here but yours pointed them out . Good tips too. Thanks

Great photos of the rubber stub under the crankshaft! Getting the old belt off was hard--it's interesting to see the thing that was making it so difficult.

Getting the old belt off is pure cake -- just cut it in half and be done with it. Tin snips or cable cutters will do the job.

I did the same just cut it with a pair of scisors, no time at all.
