Hey all,
I was looking into adding satellite radio to my 05-s60r. it has the HU-850 system and i found from the volvo dealer that my car was wired at the factory to accept sat radio. I choked when they told me dealer installation was $890.00(parts and labor). I read somewhere else that if you have the melbus 8 pin connector/cable already installed you can add iphone/ipod capability through Imiv out of canada. My car does have that 8 pin cable in the left rear of the trunk. Any thoughts?? I've heard that doing the BestBuy sat thing, even with a good unit causes problems because the installers typically have issues with volvos. I'd like to have more than the local fm, and 6 discs is good but i have 20+ hours a week of windshield time.. Music options would be awesome.

Don't hold me to this, but I believe that the Volvo HU is still made by Alpine. That being said, you may be able to use a universal Alpine Sat Radio unit to work with the 8 pin connector.
I have never seen this done but I know you can use the Alpine CD changers with the stock HU in the 850 and S70 volvos.
Just an idea.
