Wow this is going to be a nightmare. Someone mentioned cutting an access hole to get to it instead of dropping the tank?

Is this something i can get to then or is it true the entire rear end and tank need to be dropped? Would this be best done by a shop?

So since i wasn't able to get a clear answer i decided to just follow the vacuum hose back from the engine to find out the Fuel Pressure Regulator on a 1998 V70 XC AWD is NOT on top of the tank it is right above the front axle/ I have attached a couple pics to show and also verified the part number on the FPR to make sure that is what it is. With that being said now that i have it off the car how can i test my FPR to make sure it is bad?

Hi, I have been told my fuel pressure regulator on my 98 v70XC is going bad. The only symptoms are no engine start on the first cold start attempt. I was told it requires dropping the gas tank, and also, that the type of fuel pressure regulator I need is not available any longer. However, FCP groton has 2 of them and I talked to their tech today who said one of them will work and that it is located by the fuel rail. Obviously, I am very confused. Can anyone definitively say where the FPR is located on a 98 v70XC.

Also, does anyone know how long I will be able to drive this car before it will no longer run if I do not replace the FPR.

Thanks.

the 1998 xc70 has it as shown in this thread in the latter posts. It is in the fuel line down behind engine. A V band clamp holds it into the vessel built in the fuel line where the lines junction. The FPR will have a stainless end with a vacuum hose nipple. 1999 and 2000 models of this car have it back above fuel tank.

^Take a look at the PDF there.

So while replacing the regulator i broke the plastic housing that has two lines that go into it. The fpr screws down into the plastic piece and for the life of me I cant find a part number to replace it. Any idea what its called?

Punch your model into the volvopartswebstore website and pull up the fuel system diagram to ID

I've been trying to find it listed there and no luck so far but ill keep trying. This is the last piece I need to have it up and running again. Its a 2000 v70 xc and it seems everything I find shows the wrong diagram. The fpr on this car is mounted on the tank. Volvos parts dept weren't of any help either. I've found multiple threads on here that definitively show the piece (one where a user mapped all the fuel lines) just can't find anything on what its called. I've tried fpr actuator, valve, etc and no dice yet.
