clutch install

hi guys
need a little help on which side do you put the clutch in. here are some pics of the clutch.one side has a longer part of the shaft and would like to know which side goes to the motor.

the car is a 97 850 awd

I just replaced mine a few weeks ago and as I recall the long side of the shaft goes towards the transmission. If you have not yet removed the old one snap a picture to be sure. Many years ago I put the disc in backwards on a 740 but that only added about 2 or 3 hours to the repair to correct it, on an 850 it is a much bigger deal.
