New key fob?

Post by jimpwk »

Volvo V40 Year 2000
The fobs plastic case is broken through age but still works, although slower than normal. My dealer quotes £132 to replace it. I think a new battery would fix it along with some tape to hold the case together. Can I replace the battery myself or do I have to take it to a dealer.

Thanks for any advice.

Jim

I'm not sure about your fob, but with mine I was able to replace the battery using a very small Torx bit to remove the screw holding the two halves together. The battery was just a watch battery available at Walmart.

Also, you might want to look on Ebay for fobs that you could switch your innards into. They're relatively cheap.

Or you could try our sponsor IPD. You can get a replacement cover and battery.
