Keyless woes, No Blinking Led

I bought a new wagon with keyless entry but an old fob so I thought I would program my other keyfob for this new car but the fcc id on the black box behind the glove box was different from my other car. I decided to install the correct box from another car I had so I could have a new fob. I followed the instructions to program (get in car, lock doors, ignition to pos. II 5 times, then press a button) but On the fifth time I do it and leave it in II no LED blinks. I know my alarm works because when I lock it from the outside and pull the interior lock (from the outside or with the windows down) the alarm goes off. Frustrated I reinstalled the old box and tried to use the old fob and it wont work anymore! Tried to program it again and I get nothing. I figured it was the black box so I went out today to get another one that matches the newer fob thinking it would solve the problem but alas, still no LED on the 5th try. What the hell am I doing wrong? Any suggestions? IDK if it makes a difference but its a 94 850 wagon. Oh and I have a new battery in the key fob.

Also I noticed that sometimes when I switch the ignition to II on the 5th time, the doors unlock. wassupwitdat?

Apparently this guy had a 94 and his LED doesnt light up either. Sometimes his doors unlock too. Im thinking it could have something to do with it being a 94. Since this thread I have swapped out the alarm relay as well with no luck. I have also replaced the gas door lock thinking that would have something to do with the central locking but still nothing. I really wanna get this keyless to work but Im stumped. Also, would it be possible to switch the guts from the old ugly keyfob into my newer fresh looking one? I havent figured out how to open the keyfob yet tho.

I don't think the LED blinked on any of mine, I just held the button until the doors locked and called it good. The remote keyfobs work fine.

On my '94 the alarm never set due to a bad microswitch in the trunk lock. After I replaced the trunk lock mechanism I did notice that the alarm would set. The remote keyfob worked before the change though.

The point is to not get hung up on the LED blinking.

Is there any way to check for bad microswitches or would the alarm coming on when I use the key be confirmation enough? And just keep holding the button down? How long is too long? 10 seconds? a minute?

Mine always take after about 10 seconds or so.
