What is it about Volvo & PA?

Post by cudatime71 »

Hi-
Just a quick question out of curiosity. Why is it when I look for Volvo's for sale, there are so many in Pennsylvania?
Thanks!
Merry-

I agree with Cudatime... there does seem to be a Volvo "pocket" in PA. It's weird.

I'm guessing there's a Swedish-American community there, like there is in Seattle. Seattle's causes a "blip" in the Volvo ownership numbers there, I witnessed it on the road every day.

My uncle & cousin both own one...a 940 and a 960. I'm not sure why they own RWD models in PA, cause they get lots of snow near Scranton...but they love em

It's funny when all the family gets together, there's my S70, my uncle's XC90, and their 2 all in one driveway.

I wonder if I have been desensitized to seeing Volvo's. I see quite a few everyday here but I thought that was normal; as in everywhere you go it's like that. lol

Many good dealers,
Conservative population
In my area they're like Chevy's, every other house has one...or two...or three

its definitely the well to do that are bringing them into the area, as jrl said there are quite a few dealers, west of the city along the main line it seems like every third car is a volvo. i think after about 100 to 150k, they get rid of them and they make their way out to other places. in the city, you see quite a few beat up 240s, 740s and 960s puttering around.
