Mount for the door brake is broken.

Hey all,

The mount that the door brake attaches to is broken. It's the mount that is on the frame of the car. I was trying to look at it but it looks like I have to take the quarter panel off to see how it is broke. Is the mount welded onto the frame of the car? My car is a 1996 Volvo 850 GLT.

Is the door check actually broken at the A pillar mount or does it simply not work? The broken door check can often lead to the broken mount on the A pillar but if you get to it quickly enough you can get by with just replacing the door check itself. We have stuff in the repair database on both subjects but I'm not sure which ones to send you to.

Whatever you do don't buy a ScanTech replacement door check - it will last for maybe 6 weeks tops before it breaks again.
