Please give me some idea...
it has been almost a year with this hi-pitch sound (something like thin metals keep hitting each other-loosen screw....sometimes like there is small leak on the turbo so when you accelerate, it sounds like leaking exhaust too)
around the engine...and i thought it was the turbo joints...exhaust leaks...but it wasnt.
it dissappear if you go beyond 2500rpm or hi-boost, or maybe the engine is too noisy overwhelming the noise then..
recently i found worst sound klak klak klak from engine bottom at 4500~6000rpm..
could it be the worn crankshaft bearing or con-rod bearing?
it thats the case, really the case..i have one T5 block at home, with all pistons, crank, rods in place...
which is better solution? drop the spare block or replace the bearing?
later in any case, i plan to put in better piston & rods. any one selling?
Lee,
do you have any preferred spec or manufacturer for these 2 parts?

My experience with engines is that I can replace anything on the top end of the engine and be just fine but once you get to the bottom end it is new engine time. That said, you have an interesting dynamic in that you want to beef up the rods.
I am, at least thus far, a strictly stock kinda guy so I really don't have any good suggestions for vendors on rods and pistons. You might want to post over on Volvospeed in the performance section but be sure to wear the Nomex fire suit. They have several vendors that will gladly send you the parts but you will get flamed in the process. It sounds like you need to get a real good machine shop involved as well to evaluate the condition of your crankshaft.

+2 for that advice ... 1 for the mechanical advice & another 1 for the Nomex suit! LOL ... Soooo true!
XP corp ,
I don't know about your neck of the woods but here in the US what you are considering would be a very expensive project.
One I'm not sure would be worthwhile.
