Hello All,
I have a 97 850 non turbo and have been getting the P0446 DTC for Evap system malfunction. I have actually replaced the gas cap and purge valve to see if this takes care of the problem. I was utilizing some of the posts here in regards which seemed to be common problems. I should probably have it taken in to a shop for analysis, but an trying to figure it out myself if possible. Any advice out there as too which steps I might take to resolve this?
Thanks,
Jay

I would check the hoses that go to the charcoal canister in the engine compartment and the roll over valve (near the fuel filter).

If this one has a J hose look at that.
(Some do, some don't, I don't know exactly which models use this system)
It's a small hose near the fuel fill shaped (obviously) like a "J"
Sort of a small PIA hose to get at and repair, but this is one of the 2-3 problem areas that throw that code.
These do go bad and if cracked will set that code

Also take a look at the hose running from the TB to the purge valve.

Sorry about the delays guys but work was a little crazy this week. So I did some looking around and I have submitted some pics for your opinions. I had just replaced the hose going from the TB and the purge valve and my prob did not change. I went looking for the "J" valve and from underneath it seemed to look like piping and was pretty solid. What I did find is what I believ is the rollover valve and the hose going to the tank side of it has a crack at the end ( circled in pic) could this be my culprit and if so could this be spliced or should the hose hose be replaced and lastly if it is the latter about how much hose do you think it would take ( I'm really not sure).
Thanks again for all the advice!
Jay

I think I have as well. Is this just regular vacuum tubing or should I look for anything in particular?

I think that is just regular fuel line. I'd check the diameter, bring a piece to the parts store. Have them match it up, as fuel line. Better safe than sorry.
