Radio problems with S40 2005 PLEASE HELP!!!

Post by cannmj1 »

I recently bought a 2005 S40 and have had several problems with my radio. It was freezing up, which they fixed with a software upgrade..but the problem they can't figure out is my radio volume. When I'm driving and listening to the radio the volume will go down and up randomly (no I do not have speed sensor radio control or anything). I thought it might be a problem with reception but we can't pinpoint it. Has anyone else had this problem?? PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!

Thanks!

Yes. In Dolby Pro-Logic, my rear speakers do the exact same thing and I'm bringing it in for service on Thursday.

Could you please let me know what they do! Apparently they replaced the entire radio system but I am still having problems. Thanks!

I don't know if they gave me the run around but they told me the problem was with the broadcast signals for Dolby Pro Logic and suggested that I only use the 3 channel setting instead.

I guess I agree with that assessment since the same problems don't occur while either listening to a CD or in 3 channel or even in AM.

Then also suggested that I try adjusting the rear speaker equalizer, which I haven't done yet.

Let me know what you are doing.

Thanks.

No, they didn't give you the run-around. Dolby Pro Logic can only produce its surround effect when the signal is strong. If it is weak or varies, the surround cuts out. I set my CD to Dolby Pro Logic, but leave my radio on 3-channel. If I know I will be driving where there is a strong signal, I might set the radio to Dolby Pro Logic. Usually I don't bother.
