You need to post a picture of your seat.
I can tell you if it's "saveable" or not.
If not take it to an inexpensive upholstery shop, have them sew in a new seat panel then repair the rest of the cracks and dye the entire seat.
Much cheaper than a new seat bottom

I attached a couple pictures, one of the general area and the other calling out the worst damage. The area of the worst parts are almost completely through the leather and you can see the foam underneath. The leather is extremely thin in these areas from repeated abrasions. The rest of it seems to be at worst about 1mm deep but is in fairly large chunks.
How much work would it be to swap the seat backs between driver and passenger? It would get a lot less wear if it was on my wife's side vs the repeated stress of me plopping down all the time.

Making it look better is one thing but in this case it appears that replacing the cover would make more sense. That area is prone to wear and its close to being a lost cause now....
Sort of what I was thinking... $90 to buy a Leatherique kit and filler with the possibility of the repair failing or just buy a good condition seat skin for $55 on bay.Volvoagain wrote:Making it look better is one thing but in this case it appears that replacing the cover would make more sense. Though the kit could do both front seats and if the repair worked, both would look good instead of having mismatched color.

I have a '96 850 with the taupe interior and I think I'm going to tackle this job. I'm planning on getting the deluxe kit and I am wondering if anyone has found the color that works best. I'm thinking the "VS6992 Lt Taupe" but "VS6969 Lt Beige" looks pretty close too. Any advice?

Yes the sides are vinyl. The leather kit won't do anything for you there.thecheat wrote:Was on page one of this thread...Clickie
Ps: are the sides of the seats vinyl? I just noticed that they don't have the same texture and are more stretchy.
