is a blown bearing worth fixing ?

a repeating knoking and metal on metal sound coming from under the engine. Did i blow a bearing or two ?
i had to drive with low oil pressure and the result is trouble. I've invested alot of money and time this far so Is it still worth fixing ? If so, how do I fix this ?

The shop time for replacing all main bearings is 6.5 hours. Bearing sets will run at about $100.00. It isn't a job for the faint hearted, especially if it is a first time engine strip and rebuild.

Cosnider an independent mechanic with a Volvo specialty. At least compare the estimates.

Another option is a good used engine from a junkyard.

You won't find many on this forum who would advise this.

Most shops can fix the older engines but lummert's suggestion is worth considering.

Indeed a used engine replacement through an independent volvo specialist is the route I've choosen to go.
In fact none of the regular auto repair shops I called would even do this work without the special tools and experience !! I'm lucky there is a volvo guy 1 hour from me who will do it.
