Fuel line disconnet

Post by zerdas »

Hi guys,
I have Volvo V70 2004 with 76k miles on it and I noticed little smoke coming out of an oil dip stick. Looks like I will have to change oil trap and pcv houses. I tried disconnecting my rail fuel line, but so far no success. It is Star Ray fuel line disconnect with 2 push buttons, one on the top and other on the bottom. I pushed, pulled, squeezed , still can't get fuel line to come apart. Do you know if I will need special fuel line disconnect tool ?
Below here are pictures of my problem.

I will wait for others to chime in but I believe you remove the green tab (pry up and pull out)and then can pull the line out. I am almost sure you have to replace the clip and o ring each time

You see, I carefully checked my fuel line disconnect against Vidia drawing and I did not find six point screw and and clip as picture suggests. Mine must be a different type. I can depress 2 green rectangular buttons but fuel line stays in. I am stuck at this point and dont want to break anything.

Thank you JDS60r for your replays. I got fuel line disconnected finally and replaced oil trap. What a nightmare! 2 push button disconnect is a part of fuel rail and stays with it. There is very little room for play with metal tubing and no special tools are necessary. Just squeeze hard 2 green buttons and firmly pull out fuel line. After putting it back I had no gasoline leak around connector.

My oil trap replacement took me 8 hours, sore legs and back, but I enjoyed working on it. My vehicle is running good so far. No smoke coming out of the dip stick. Looks like oil trap was fine, but the engine ports were plugged. Black solid, carbon like substance was blocking them.

Glad to hear it worked out.

That oil/sludge is a result of the engine oil you are using. Its a fair sign you need something better.

Thank you for the pictures. I'm doing the same thing, and couldn't figure out how to disconnect the fuel rail return line. Mine is exactly like your.
