New Car Audio Help!!!!

Post by sgowda2011 »

Hi Everyone, I was looking into some new speakers for my 98' S70 and was wondering what my options are. I am in need of a good system that won't be exorbitant in price while also providing a quality sound that is better than my factory speakers which happen to be 12 years old. Thanks For All The Help

What are you running for an HU? Have you upgraded the stereo itself yet?
If you still have the stock Volvo unit, replacing It'll be much easier and
a lot more effective than just a speaker swap.

The first thing I did was put in a good clean Head Unit. The fatory speakers in my 98 T-5 where not blown or falling apart and they actually sound really good. I have had all sorts of high end seprates over the years and these are sufficient IF you amplifiy them with an good amplifier. I was very impressed when I installed my Pioneer Premiere and used the built in amp. They sound even better with a clean external amp and 8in sub and can actually take alot of abuse, but keep in mind that its not wattage that kills speakers rather it is the distrotion they are sent. I have purposely post poned replacing the fronts with a set of Boston Acoustic pro's because I don't think the difference will be that noticable, so I play them loud and keep waiting for a failure.
