Air Bag warning Light - V40 2000

The red light on the dash has come on permanently. My garage man plugged in his diagnostic machine and it came up "connection missing from front left side". He's tried all the connections under the front passenger seat but to no avail.
Any suggestions as to cure.

Sounds unorthodox, however, connector removed from under passenger seat and wires soldered together. Light out.
