Removing center Console V850

Post by barrylay »

How do I remove the center console in my 97 V850? I have undone the two 8mm bolts at the rear inside the storage compartment, but can't free it from whatever is holding it in the front by the dashboard. Very afraid of breaking some plastic here.

There are 4 bolts (two for ash tray) and two below holding the center console. There are a few
connectors plus the ash tray wire to undo, The write-up mentioned does a good job. I took
a few pictures but haven't had time to post.

The only problem I had is that I could not remove the center console with my shifter in park,
I had to move it back into gear for the center console to come out.

I replaces all of the bulbs and hacked up a bulb for the ash tray/courtesy light at the rear of the
center console. These bulbs have been out for years...without this site they'd still be dead.

I put together this video to show people how to pull the center console of the Volvo 850. I pulled mine to get to the bulb at my shifter.
