installing third row seat on '97 850

allo...

i bought the set-up off e-bay and have the seat and belts installed. My problem is that I don't see how the latch works to keep it open ...or rather I have an idea how it works but i don't have anything on the back of the second row seats to receive the catch thingee from the third row seat back. So i'm wondering what other part is needed and perhaps what it looks like. When I got the package from the e-bay seller there were a half dozen or so extra parts i couldn't find a home for ...though none appear to be part of a latch assembly.

i've searched the net and this forum to no avail

i've been trying to install a third row seat and researching this same issue. i found a video that shows that all second row seats have the hole for the catch, if its not exposed you have to cut through the lining/carpeting. i did this and found the opening. what i'm not sure of is whether you need the plastic molding to hold the third seat in place. my guess is not - that seems to be a plastic piece of trim that is for aesthetics.

I have a 3rd seat row on all my 3 V70s..
I will do some pictures this evening.
Have you got any problems with the seat belts or so?

I recently installed a third row seat in my 1996 850. I cut through the carpet on the back of the back seat (using a regular utility knife) and pushed the plastic piece into place since it's useful in keeping the carpet out of the way of the plastic latch. I don't think the plastic piece serves any other purpose. It's quiet true--all Volvos really do come from the factory with all possible options and bolt holes, and all you need do is make the right attachments.

I've attached a photo of this plastic piece. To keep the upright part of the 3rd row in the upright position, just pull the little strap on the bottom of the upright seat. It causes the lever on the back of the 3rd row seat to pop out so it can insert into the back of the 2nd row seat. When you want to collapse the 3rd row seat, just pull the same strap and the lever releases.

Does any one have a part number for the piece that goes in the back of the middle row with the slot in it?
