Slow start 2000 v70 R

2000 v70 R 190K, Babied and very well maintained.

It is beginning to stumble occasionally on start-up. It starts fine when cold, but after driving, and then sitting for a short while, it's not so good. It turns over quite a while before firing, and sometimes it'll stumble and die. Then it'll start. Like a flooded car.
No CEL, and i'll check for codes tonight when it get's home, but anyone have any ideas?

I had the exact same symptoms when my coolant temp sensor died.

I have the same problem. But, Idon't think it's temp sensor issue as I have a ScabGauge II hooked up to my ALDL connector, and one of the four "gauges" I am reading is the engine temp, which always shows a temperature. I believe it's a fuel pressure issue. I think it is a bad fuel pressure check valve, which unfortunately sits in the tank. So, for now, I just turn the key to position II ( the one that makes all the dash lights come on), listen for the fuel pump to cycle on/off, then crank away, and she usually starts right up. Unless it's over 95 degrees F outside then it may take two on/off cycles to get her started. Once started she runs perfectly. I have check the fuel rail with a tire gauge (a little messy), with engine running at idle, I get 45 psi. but with engine off for several hours, all I have to do is push the little pin on the schrader valve at the end of the fuel rail, and I don't even get a drop of fuel. One of these days, I am going to install some kind of check valve just before the fuel filter. Just not sure where to get one, yet. Anybody got any ideas as to what I can use for a check valve in the fuel line? R? allen

I know JRL has seen a lot of these cars and I believe him almost a hundred percent...

But I am really broke these days and can't afford to throw money at it.. So, does anyone know the correct way to actually test my check valve? My vadis is no help at all.

Let the car sit for several hours, then flip the key to II and let the fuel pump prime and switch it off again

With a rag in your hand, go press on the schraeder valve at the drivers side of the fuel rail (under a tiny blue cap). If fuel squirts out under high pressure and immediately, your check valve is OK.
