When simple things turn frustrating...

Post by xjflexer »

So, the odometer in my 850R wagon decided to quit the other day. No biggy....get a new gear from FCP. Take my dash apart on my lunchbreak. No sweat. After work, I disassemble the cluster, replace the gear as well as the blow out bulbs for my trip computer. Put things back together rather briskly as I forgot about plans my wife and I had last night. Start up the car....now the bulb for the gauges on the left (boost, temp, fuel) is out!!! GRRRRRR!!!!! Maybe I bumped it durring reassembly or something. At least I think I can just crack open the dash and reach inside without removing the cluster to replace (or just tighten?) this bulb.

Thanks for listening to me rant. **stepping down from soap-box**

If it makes you feel better, the same thing happened to me. I had no bulbs out before replacing the gear, but after one is out behind the trip computer display.

Man, I feel your pain; that happens on every job that I've done.
The directions will read "remove so and so screw" and that little step takes 2 hours because of any number of reasons.
much cursing has ensued.

I go to the junkyard to practice future repairs.

+1 on that.

I lost my speedo, tacho, and temp bulbs when I did the odo gear...still have the fuel guage lit up though.
