Funny (not good) noises - #2 Rattling tailgate

1999 v70XC

I bought the kit from IPD http://www.ipdusa.com/Volvo-S70V70-1998 ... 0-498-212/ but it didn't seem to help at all.

This is driving me nuts on the uneven concrete sections near my house!

Help!

Any chance your latch is loose? I noticed the other day on my wagon that all 3 bolts that hold the latch to the gate were out or loose. On top of that the latch itself is somewhat busted, the 2 halves that hold all the springs and stuff inside aren't tightly held together any more. And in my case you can see where someone before me tried tackwelding them together and the welds popped apart.

I had a rattling tailgate too and used shims made from electrical tape on the latch and side bumpers, as well as drywall screws in the panel to put an end to the rattles. Good luck!
