I have had an oil leak that I thought I could live with since the engine run smooth as silk. Today I decided to change the spark plugs, and I found the leak. The spark plug bays for 4 and 5 were full of oil as well as number 6 with a smaller amount of oil. I am afraid to even pull the plugs now. Where could the oil be coming from??? Could it be the Valve cover Gasket? How do you remove the valve cover??

Oil leak - Valve Cover - spark plugs
Hello,
Today I opened up my S-80 valve cover to reach spark plugs and found exactly same oil leak every where, described herein video. I thought that oil cap seal may be leaking but I may be wrong. Has anyone found what the problem is? I would really appreciate to know. Thanks!!

After attempting to take the valve cover off, not being able to, because you need a special tool to hold the cam shafts, I took it to the dealer. $2,800 later I had a worse leak because I warped the valve cover trying to break it loose. Once you do that the only fix is to replace the cylinder head. I brought the car home and was ready to donate it. I decided to spend $15 more dollars. I bought a new Oil Cap at O'reilleys and some high temperature epoxy at Home Depot. Problem solved! It was the Oil Cap failing! The epoxy fixed the oil leak at the Valve Cover, that was 5000 miles ago and the Volvo still running smooth and no annoying leaks.
Live and learn! I hope this helps you.
