Volvo 745 advice

I'm thinking about buying a 1987 Volvo 745 wagon (745A I think). I'm having trouble finding much info on that model online. Is this a US model? What's the difference between it and the 740? Anything I should look for before I buy it? is $2000 a good price for one with 188,000 miles?

The type code is like this. First digit 7 in 740 is the 7 series, second digit 4 is for a 4 cylinder engine and the last digit 5 is for five doors = wagon. A 4 cylinder sedan will be a 744 = 4 doors.
