Tachometer

Post by tony.col »

I just bought a tach from my Volvo mechanic that I'm hoping to fit into my 93 240. I was told it came from a 100 series, it has 2 lengthy white wires, one short white wire which I see goes to the bulb, and 2 short black wires. One has a ring crimp which I imagine is ground, but I'm unsure of the rest. I am in need of some help on how to wire this. Is it even compatible?

So you have
2 white
1 short white bulb
2 black

The tack would need a power source and hot when on signal ( 2 long white)
A dimable illumitation wire (short white)

A ground black
A coil ground signal wire (black hopefully)

I will check my 240 schematic and get back with you - the above is a guess - knowing how tachs work

Wow- my 240 schematics are horrible

it does have a ground and hot for the bulb
Then a positive, ground and coil trigger (coil ground line) as well. But I have no color coding info for you. You will have to experiment.

In a 93 240 the tach signal wire is red with white

That's all I could find - keep hunting
