Replacement Carpet

Post by Wjncs77 »

Does anyone know where you can get replacement carpet for the S70 besides Volvo. I'm not paying that much for carpet. Local upholstery shops just want to glue new carpet in, I want molded to fit carpet, I don't want anything glued down in case I need to get to the wire harness under the carpet.

Thanks

Go to a different upholstery shop. A good shop can steam, strech and cut the carpet so it fits. Its more labor than gluing it down but your concern of access is valid.

If you are just irritated about the beige to pink fading SEMS has carpet dye that can restore the color back to something other than titty pink.

I used some of the SEMS products on my daughter's Porsche and it held up well for the couple of high school years that we kept the car.

The problem with the junk yards are Die is the same. Almost every S70 I have seen have had the heater core blow out or leak, as mine did. And the carpet is soaked with coolant, and it seem no matter what you do you just can get it out. Im still looking for a shop that can steam and fit my carpet, no luck yet though.

I replaced mine with one from the junk yard that had coolant saturation. It was in very good condition so I took it to my back yard workshop (area of grass). Hosed it. Doused it with heavy concentration of carpet shampoo. Scrubbed it with a medium bristle brush. Draped it over saw horses and hosed it til the water ran clear. Then let it sun dry. Voila! I've been happy with it for over a year. BTW: I also cut out the rubber underlayment which still had its skin on (mine didn't and got wet). It also had coolant on it, but I treated it the same way and it, too, has been fine. I think I paid $8.00 or so from the Upullrparts south of Minneapolis.
