programing memory seats...

Post by carboncow »

2001 T5 newer to me...

I cannot get a good grip on the seat programing with this car...and it shouldn't be this difficult! The appears to be no light or audible sound to show the program has taken from holding in the 1,2 or 3. I believe I got the wife on #1 and me on #3 now...but the car often resets to number when ever I get into the car. Is this due to the key being used? Should there be a sound when programing as I have seen on my BMW, Vw, Saabs and Porsches? Or does Volvo go with out feedback?

The KEY hold the KEY!!
It will go to the last position in was in when that particularly key locked the car
Wife locks it with her key, you open it with your key, seat goes to wife's position
You lock it, YOU unlock it, seat won't move

Programming the memory is easy. Just get it in the positions that you want (not sure if the car needs to be in POS II) and then press and hold the MEM button on the seat while pressing the number you want the settings to save to. Just hold for a second or two and you should be good.
You have to press and hold the number button on the seat when you want to change the settings until everything is in position.

No beep
What's happening is your wife drives it and locking it with HER remote, this sets the car to her settings
The car memorizes which remote last was used and uses those settings.
If YOU drive it and say manually move the seat before you get out then lock it, the next time you use your remote to get in it will go back to your settings.
If you two swap driving duties back and forth, you will have to press your memory button each time you get in

and you have to hold the button the whole time to finish the move to that setting...or is it just a single hit and it will go through the motions? I'm just seeing lots of inconsistent behavior here (again only comparing to other cars and not other volvos). Thanks.
