Starting problems

I have a 2004 Volvo XC90 that is having trouble starting. It acts like the battery, but when you jump it it will start several times over a long period of time before having the same problem again. I have not checked the Alternator, but I know it is getting some charge because after the jump it will start. Also the lights don't dim when revving the motor like a normal alternator problem. any suggestions?

Had same problem with my 53 xc90 D5, had the battery checked at independant garage and found out the battery had simply had enough!! replaced battery and never had a problem since 4 months ago, hope this helps.
