Just bought this car, 1995 Volvo 850GLT. It started fine and drove home. The ABS and Check engine light were on but go off after the key is wiggled. I read in another post that the ignition switch simply needs to be replced and the idiot light issue will go away. Parked the car at home.
Now, the car will not start and nothing in the car has power. The battery has 12.5 volts but nothing in the car works.
Is this related to shorted ignition switch or is there a different problem?
Any help would be appreciated.
Eric

Replacing of ignition switch will also make your 'no electricity' problem go away.ericinatl wrote:The ABS and Check engine light were on but go off after the key is wiggled. I read in another post that the ignition switch simply needs to be replced and the idiot light issue will go away.

Ground wires. I'll second that. The ignition switch is fairly easy to replace.

I ordered the switch. The local auto store wanted $110 but it was available for $54 at fcpgroton.
Are you talking about the ground wires under the hood? I plan to disconnect and clean those today.
Thank you for the advice. I'll let you know the outcome.
