1-6-1 doesn't pop up in my manual but then again it never explains what the correct code should be for a specific region. I will try to dig into VADIS to see if I can decipher the code for you but it may be a day or two since I am trying to finish a massive project for my company (me) at the moment.

If I haven't responded by Sunday bump the thread to give me a knock up side the head to wake me up and remember to look.

I have gone through all of my literature and I can't find an answer for you. You can specify the geographic region via DTM 6 but the book is quite specific that this will only work once per instrument cluster and while it has the code to initiate the geographic region it has no specifications on what the correct entry should be for a specific region.

Since you can only try it once I am reticent to just guess.

Sorry

No problem.

Do you know what sends the signal (sine wave?) that triggers the motor in the odo to turn. Is it in the instrument cluster itself?Just thinking that may need to be replaced.

I have read where a few have seen this problem but no resolutions.

Thanks.

On a '95 it is a sine wave from the VSS on the bottom of the transmission. On the '96 and on it is a square wave from the ABS module. I have heard of mods that just add a diode to the VSS signal to trick everything else on some manual transmission swaps. I have also seen posts where folks just tap the ABS wheel sensor for a VSS signal but I have never done such a modification.

The pulse rate is the same from the ABS wheel sensor and the VSS signal but I think the waveform is different (Sine vs square).
