740 Headlight Modification

I tried to search, but came up empty.

New to the site - and to the Volvo Wagon world ( my only other Volvo was a 1959 544 RIP) - Now purists: please do not cringe to hard...

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to put the 80's model headlights on a 90's model 740 wagon? With no body modifications. I was wondering if the framework was the same, but the bracket and lenses could be switched out.

To quote the old saying, "Anything is possible."

In the UK we didn't have the 4 headlight set up and I was interested in changing mine. I asked a master coach builder the same question. There was a sharp intake of breath, a strange look in my direction followed by an emphatic, "No." This from a man who could repair the unrepairable without breaking sweat. The front side panels have to be changed, the headlight housings are different, the older lights need seals under the leading edge of the bonnet (hood) and the front cross member is different.

I am not a purist.
