While driving slow or over bumps, a clunking noise occurrs. When driving on the highway, loud noise come from the left side, but it does not have clunking noise. Please advise on potential problem and parts needed to replaced.
The wheel bearings on the left side was making a loud noise. I replaced wheel bearings then the clunking noise started. The tie rod ends and ball joints are tight.
Thanks

Had similar problem on my 2002 S40. After doing some inspection found out the front strut was worn out and the bearing in the front strut mount on the fender was bad too, after replacing the struts and mounts no noise.
I think you meant "clunking." Getting a chicken out of your car would be easier.
All kidding aside, just had the same thing fixed on my '00. It was a broken front stabilizer bushing (part $126). The whole suspension had to be removed to get at it. Good luck.
