Power Window Problem

Post by Danilosilni »

My drivers side window doesn't work properly. When I close the window using the express auto open, the window goes all the up but then goes right back down to where I closed it from...

Anyone have experience with this? I asked a service tech and he says it has to be hooked up to the computer and it costs $100. Any insite?

Need some more information, but in order to fix it properly, its going to have to be hooked up to VIDA either way. It could be something simple like re-initializing the drivers door module, or it could be a faulty drivers door module. Either one of those repairs will require the car to be plugged into VIDA.

Does it do this if you just roll the window up without the "express auto" function?

I have the same problem as OP. XC90 2006, it will stay up if you hold the up button after its up. But anytime auto up, it just reverses down. When we got the car 4 months ago, it would go up fine and move ever so slightly down but stayed up.

Any DIY reset

The reason this type of thing happens is very random, all I can say is that it does. The door module is pre-calibrated to know what position is all the way up, and what position is all the way down. For some random reason, it will "forget" what position is what and not know where the top is when you auto up. When this happens it will just default to rolling back down on its own, because it does not know where to stop on its own! Computers!!

Either way the only way to fix this problem is to take it to any shop that has VIDA(dealer or indy), and let them recalibrate/initialize the drivers door module. Should only take 1/2 hour of labor and no parts, so not that bad.

Thanks, sounds like a trip to the dealer. Maybe get the single button door lock mod done at the same time.

Mine does the same thing, probably need to hook it to a computer but I am 100 miles from closest dealer... For mine both the driver and passenger side does it. I thought I would revisit this post to see if there are any other ideas out there, or it the problem has become more common.

Anyone else have this problem???
