I suppose it means there's not a whole lot of carbon build-up in your engine. It doesn't mean the PCV is clean - the PCV can be checked by pulling out the oil dipstick at idle on a warm engine and holding a piece of paper over the opening. If the paper sucks in slightly, the system is working properly. If it blows outwards or smoke is coming out of the opening, it is due for a cleaning.

Mine smoked for a good 5 minutes like this:

Once I started revving it, the smoke cloud was huuuuuuuuuge!

wow damn yea a lot of smoke came out of yours yea mine smoked for like 10 seconds nothing anything close to yours, i am wondering how much you sucked in though? i got 3 glasses and added the same amount in each 1 and took 1 and put half of it into the other 1 so i had 1 part in 1 glass 1 and a half part in glass 2 and glass 3 half part, 1st glass sucked through the vacuum tree on a 94 Volvo 850 turbo, glass 2 witch was half a part i put into the crank case, cause i was a little worried about putting it in there, and i put 1 and a half parts in the gas and i had about 6-8 gallons of gas in there, i didn't notice to much of a difference but it felt a little smoother but i just also discovered a hole in 1 of the turbo hoses so that can be were the loss is. but i was wondering how much u sucked into yours and if any1 else has a Volvo 850 turbo wagon and how much they sucked into theres and how much smoke came out of it or any other car would be appreciated thanks.

I was noticing on a number of different posts that there are some warnings against using Seafoam on a high milage engine as it may remove the deposits that are actually holding your rings together - and thereby you may need a lot of work post foam...

Any experience like this with anyone?

Thanks

Never heard that one before. It sounds like one of those comments/opinions out there that get's passed along as a technical statement. The rings don't need carbon deposits to hold them together. Actually, you want the ring set to be clean and "unstuck" so that they can do their job of properly sealing between piston and cylinder.

Cleaning the ring pack is actually one of the features claimed by Auto Rx treatments.

I think about the only way you can really damage an engine with Seafoam is to suck it in so fast that it hydro-locks a cylinder.

I've used it on 3 of my 4 and the 4th will come as soon as I get a warmer day and some time.

I don't know what the ingredients in B-12 Chemtool are, but I've used it with good results too, and it costs half as much...

I have used anywhere from 1/2 bottle to the entire bottle being sucked through the vacuum system. I have used it on various vehicles with some of them being high mileage. If there is a lot of carbon build up you can have chunks of carbon break loose and hang up on the valve or guides causing problems - another bottle and a high speed run will usually break it free. There are other fluids that can be used the same way (Marvel Mystery Oil). I have also used a bore scope to check the crud in the heads before and after.

With Seafoam or any other cleaner if you put it in the crankcase you need to change to oil and filter soon after - with an engine that is sludged up you a wasting your time as it would take a lot to clean it up. It is not a snake oil but it is a cleaner that can be used in multiple ways (in the gas tank, in the crankcase, or through the vacuum system).

With all of that said, I used it rarely on my 850 as I did not have much of a carbon or sludge issue. My 99 F150 is a different story.
